7) They Wake Up Early and Exercise
Most successful people wake up early to start their day on the right foot. I find that when I start my day early, I’m more focused, energetic and get a lot done by noontime. People who wake up early also tend to be more healthy and active which leads to their overall success. Most successful people like Mark Zuckerberg, Barack and Michelle Obama, Bill Gates, Jack Dorsey, and others start their day with exercise. Exercise gives you the physical and mental stamina to tackle the challenges of the day ahead. It also keeps you healthy and reduces your chance of chronic disease. No time? Just 20 minutes of brisk walking or stretching can get you focused and unlock your key to success.
6) They Read Daily
Successful people focus on daily growth and learning through reading. Warren Buffet, Oprah, Bill Gates are only a few that attribute their success to daily reading and learning from the mistakes and successes of others. I find that I struggle with getting through paper books and have found that I get through audio books a lot quicker. If you buy books on Kindle and have an Amazon Echo, it can read some Kindle books for you out loud. Instead of spending hours watching mindless TV or on social media, transition to finding a topic you want to learn about; one that will help you reach a goal. Then educate yourself as much as possible on that topic by reading books.
5) They Meditate
Meditation helps to increase focus and sets you up for success. With so many daily issues to tackle successful people are experts at taking time to focus or re-focus through meditation, prayer or breathing when necessary. I find I’m more efficient and focused if I start my day with prayer, positive thoughts and slow breathing. Find out what works for your personality and mood.
4) They Eat a Solid Breakfast
Most successful people eat a solid breakfast. After going 8-10 hours without eating your body is dehydrated in the morning. I start my day with a glass of warm water to re-hydrate before I work out. You’re less likely to overeat and be tired later in the day if you start the day off with hydration and a healthy breakfast.
3) They set goals for the day
Some successful people set goals the night before. Others set their goals first thing in the morning. In either case, having an ongoing list of tasks to complete based on your long-term plans allows for a goal-oriented approach to your day which will accelerate your success. Try to attempt your hardest or most demanding or creative tasks first when you have fresh mental energy. I tend to do my writing, creative thinking and planning in the morning when my mind is fresh and save social media or checking email for later in the day.
2) They Invest in Relationships
Successful people use their time wisely by defining relationships that are important to them and investing in them. If your family is important to you, make time for them. Expose yourself to other successful, positive people and make as many connections as possible. Respect other people’s time and expect them to do the same for yours. If possible, delegate management of less important relationships that take up your time. If you set standards for how your relationships will go, others will respect it and adjust accordingly.
1) They Focus on Their Strengths
Successful people think positive. They have negative thoughts like all of us but have an amazing ability to see the bright side of things. They have incredible resilience. This allows them to keep pushing forward even when things are difficult. Successful people focus on their strengths instead of their weaknesses. Once they find their strengths, they hone in on it and practice daily. In the wise words of Mark Cuban, “Work like there is someone working 24 hours a day to take it all away from you.” Explore ways to work smart and to maximize efficiency. Through patience, resilience, hard work and embracing your strengths you too will find your successful you!
